SYMPTOMS OF BAD LEADERSHIP AND INSTITUTIONAL FAILURE.

There is an empirical evidence as regard how we were been governed in this third world country called Nigeria which support the argument that bad governance and corruption are symptoms of leadership and institutional failurein nigeria.we found out that leadership changes are either frequent or infrequent,and in both cases,there leaders prefer to govern where institution are very weak or do not exist,so that they will not be accountable for their corrupt behavior and abuse of office.With the absence of effective checks and balances, corruption continues unabated over the past four or more decades.From visual inspection of corruption data in the country,we observe that many States including the federal capital territory transitioned into highly corrupt sharp practices in recent time.

Subsequently,our empirical results confirm not only the weakness of these institution in controlling corruption but also the lingering effect of institutionalize corruption in virtually all the state which kogi State is at Verge of collapsing.Bad governance is centralized around the idea of not only corruption within a system but a lack of transparency and accountability, arbitrary policy making and the cheating of those who are governed.

SOLUTION TO BAD GOVERNANCE…

There are so many transparency institute that has suggested and opine through introducing reform that addresses transparency,the degree of bad governance and be levitated and good governance can slowly take my take precedence.This reforms includes..

* Disclosure to the public of all assets and income of candidate running for any public office.

*Clear separation of laws relating to areas of governance e.g Business, politics etc.

*Ensure Access by the public to all government information.

*Ensure media has a freedom of speech.

*Implementation of international monetary fund’s (IMF) report on standard and codes frame work.

Moreover,a strong correlation exists between bad governance and corruption.By curbing corruption within governing bodies,bad governance can be reduced..
