The former governor of Imo State and Senator Representing Imo West senatorial district, Rochas Okorocha was, on Sunday, arrested by the police for allegedly using armed thugs to break into an estate belonging to his wife but seized by the Imo State Government.
The violence began after Okorocha was denied access into the state government seized Royal Palm Estate located along Akachi road in Owerri, the state capital, by the security guards in the estate.
It was reported that the gate was forced opened on the order of the senator and the armed men attacked the security guards on ground and destroyed vehicles.
The lawmaker was arrested after Chinasa Nwaneri and Eric Uwakwe who are aids to Hope Uzodinma, the governor of Imo State, arrived the estate with other security personnel who over powered Okorocha’s men.
Okorocha, Ijeoma Igboanusi, a deputy chief of staff he was governor, and Lasbrey Okafor-Anyanwu – who was a Commissioner in Okorocha’s administration are currently at the State’s Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Owerri, under arrest.
