For anyone who with keen interest on the political history and modern day theatrics of Kogi East Senatorial District, it would be a no brainier to state at the outset, that the ill-fated attempt to ridicule Sen Isah Jibrin (Echocho) is not only shocking, but lacking in merit and persuance to quality judgment.
It goes to say, also, that for Sen Isah Jibrin (Echocho), this, for one, is the burden of leadership– to be at the recieving end of vindictive ammunition, shot by a disgruntled selected few against a work in progress. Is it not shocking that a man whom in the last two years, has been solely committed about the development of his people, and while at it, has recieved global and national recognition which taunt him as the best to have occupied the Kogi East Senatorial District Legislative Seat since the return to democracy in 1999?
Ostensibly, the sinister plot by these few saddened elements to divert public attention by painting the Lawmaker in contrast colours is not disconnected from the fact that there is a paradigm of progress being enjoyed by the people of Kogi East Senatorial District– a testament to Sen. Isah Jibrin’s vociferousness at plenary, especially on issues regarding his people’ quality of life, one, which he escorts with refinement, brilliance, intelligence and an acumen to only lobby, but galvanize them home, all to the endearment of his colleagues.
But like Jesus Christ, like the Holy Prophet Muhammed, SAW, it is understandable to common knowledge if everyone doesn’t like him, or for emphasis doesn’t understand him. It raises concerns that if these anti-progressives are not suffering from an acute amnesia, would it be much of a job to remind them that Sen Isah Jibrin, as a private citizen, asides his passion to redefine the education system, had also enjoyed a successful banking career as an Executive Director (ED) until his assumption into politics in 2011. That as successful investment banker, it was only easier to float other businesses across the country in the bid to create jobs for all and sundry.
For clarity, it is glaring the author and his pack of non-progressives are obviously drunk in hate, if not so, how quickly have they forgotten that the name: “Echocho” is referenced in gratitude to God and man by thousands of Igala sons and daughters through whose Midas Touch, are off the unemployment charts and fending for themselves and families?
Like one suffering from a rare disease, it itches the author so badly that Sen. Echocho commended Kogi State Governor, His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Bello for his daring resolve to weed the state Civil Service of bad eggs polluting the system and encouraging its turbidity. Left for him and his gang of redundant thinkers, the state’s public sector should be left to rot with undue attention, hence his irritating agenda set on course to malign the Lawmaker.
Verified evidence says Sen Echocho has been on his toes in providing stewardship programs such as basic amenities, empowerment and various infrastructural policies across the three Federal Constituencies that makes up his District. It is also watery thinking for the author to label the Lawmaker as ethno-religious when his people oriented gestures through procurement of medical equipment to some health centre in Idah such as the Federal Polytechnic Idah, Kogi State College of Health Technology Idah, Primary Health Care Inacholo, Primary Health Care Ogegele, Cottage Health Centre Onyedega, Primary Health Care Akpanya, Primary Health Care Itobe, among which are made accessible to people all religious sentiments.
Also laughable is that the author forgets that Sen Echocho has been in the business of furthering several empowerment and entrepreneurship schemes, demonstrated by training of individuals on various agricultural programs such as cassava-processing, with various support base thrusts for startups in Dekina, Ankpa and others.
Last year, facilitators from the National Productivity Center has successfully trained hundreds of people from the District on SMEs. These, and countless ongoing projects emphasis his commitments to community development through projects such as the sinking of solar-power motorized boreholes and block of classrooms at Alokoli Community in Dekina Local Government, donation of 500kva Transformers with Rural electrification of Ofugo, Inye and Ejegbo, in Ankpa Local Government. Also, the rural electrification and donation 500kva Transformer from Igodo to Ogodu community in Omala Local Government and the entrepreneurship programs targeting participants from Olamaboro, Omala and Ankpa LGAs is one, too many.
What fuels the author’s passion to urinate his unverified views on the public may not be isolated from the fact that the Lawmaker is not one duely interested in camera optics. As a silent achiever, he would rather get the job done to examination of his conscience and commitment to his people. If not so, how does he become a Dekina-Ankpa Lawmaker when he recently distributed modern farming implements to Nine Local Government Areas under his District, with heavy duty tractors accrued to each, whilst Ankpa and Dekina receiving two considering obvious factors?
Recently, his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Prosper Elijah Salifu in reeling projections plans, ongoing projects and special intervention programs targeting people of the District, he says, “the Lawmaker had captured in 2021 Budget, a Cashew Processing Plant at Ofagolo in Ofu Local Government, Rice Mill in Ibaji, Establishment of Skills Acquisition Center in Anyigba, Construction of Ajagwumu, Odu, to Alokoli Roads, which engineers had already conducted sightseeing on. All the nine Local Government Areas will benefit from Solar-powered motorized boreholes budgeted in 2021 appropriation.”
He added that, “ongoing construction of Zonal/ Divisional Police office in Anyigba to mitigate security situation in Kogi East. Rehabilitation of PAAU Bakery and donation of distributing Van, revamping of moribund Acharu Palm Oil Mill in Egume, Dekina Local Government, currently undergoing incorporation, and the donation of five hundred thousand naira (500, 000), for the rescucitation of Radio Kogi Ochaja earlier in the year with many others.”
For the avoidance of doubt, Sen Isah Jibrin is one open to criticisms, so long they are kept constructive and accorded in good faith. Diatribes designed to ridicule his person and tremendous achievements in the last few months would be greeted with stiff resistance by the good people of Kogi East Senatorial District. As a people, we must also learn the virtues of patience and invest unshaken believe in our leaders with the understanding that development is procedural, and would eventually come to each of us. The Lawmaker reiterates his commitments to thrive on a mandate– the people’s mandate granted him for quality representation to promote policies aimed at improving their living standards. He assures them that he is not resting on his oars.
