As the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) prepares for its primary election in May, the party continues to see an influx of aspirants vying for various positions.
For the people of Olamaboro State Constituency in Kogi, there are no very many options to who become their next representative as a man named Dr. Ahmed Attah is massively winning the hearts of the people like a tsunami. And for that, it was pertinent to dig into his profile in weighing his fitness.
The medical doctor was born on April 1, 1972, at the St Gerald Hospital in Kaduna, to the family of Rtd Capt and Mrs. Itodo Ahmed Sunday.
He attended the Army children’s school Makurdi and later went to the Ochaja Boys Secondary School. He completed his secondary education at the Government College Makurdi. He then attended the School of Basic Studies Makurdi and proceeded to the University of Maiduguri to study Biochemistry.
Because of his love to serve humanity he later moved to the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University Zaria. where he graduated in June 1998 with bachelor’s degree in Medicine and Surgery.
He carried out his mandatory one year NYSC program at the Health Centre in Kuje Area Council of the FCT Abuja.
He worked briefly as a Medical Officer at the Holy Trinity Hospital Garki, Abuja before proceeding to the Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital Zaria for his residency program in Haematology.
He became a fellow of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria in November 2008 and was appointed a Consultant Clinical Haematologist and Head of Pathology Department of the Kogi State Specialist Hospital Lokoja in 2009.
He became the Head of Clinical Services of the KSSH Lokoja in 2015 a position he held until June 2016 when he was appointed as the Special Adviser to the Executive Governor of Kogi State on Health Matters. He was also elected the Deputy Secretary General of the Nigerian Medical Association in April 2016.
He is the Immediate Past Chief Medical Director, Kogi State Specialist Hospital, Lokoja and currently serves as a Clinical Haematologist at the same hospital.
He is currently a Member of the Governing Board of the Federal Teaching Hospital, Ido-Ekiti and also serves as the Chairman of the NMA Committee on Blood Transfusion and Haematological Services.
