EFCC confirms Bawa felt ‘unwell’ but back to job
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has confirmed reports that its Abdulrasheed Bawa acted unhealthy while delivering a speech at a public event on Thursday, September 16, 2021, in Abuja.
Reports say the 41-year-old was giving a speech at the National Identity Day celebration in Abuja when the incident happened.
He suddenly collapsed and was assisted by other guests, including the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami.
He was then rushed out of the event hall to receive medical treatment, with no details revealed yet as to the nature of his condition.
The commission in a statement made available few hours after the reports went viral disclosed that its boss “is hale and hearty.”
“This clarification became necessary following an incident today September 16, 2021 at the Presidential Villa, Abuja where he was giving a goodwill message to the National Identity Day celebration, felt unwell and had to return to his seat.
“He has since received medical attention and is due back at his desk,” EFCC said.
President Muhammadu Buhari appointed Bawa head of the EFCC in February, the youngest to ever lead the anti-graft agency.
