Benue APC: Responding To Comrade Daniel Onjeh’s Gaffe On Benue State Chairmanship Zoning
By Comr. Sylvanus Okpe
While recognizing the political and human rights of the distinguished former President of West African Students Union (WASU), Comr. Daniel Onjeh to freely express his opinions on viral issues, i wish to, with humility, disagree with his latest position on the Benue state APC chairmanship zoning wherein he employed disturbing languages in countering the well considered position of the stakeholders of the party in the Benue South Senatorial district and insisted that the Idoma nation should go on to produce the next state chairperson of APC.
In the statement he titled, “APC STATE CONGRESS: MY VIEW ON ZONING OF THE CHAIRMANSHIP POSITION”, the ex union leader disrespectfully described the position reached by the Zone C stakeholders of the party, in paragraph three of the statement as a DELUSIONAL PERSPECTIVE. A meeting he clearly didn’t attend in his characteristic manner of intentionally staying away from party (APC) affairs until election periods when his interest needs party leaning to be fully guaranteed.
It is also shocking to read the supposedly informed politician whose over two long decades of active participation in the polity; both as a Unionist and later as a politician, should equip him with a precise and in-depth knowledge of our national politics, advise Zone C to cling to the scarcely beneficial position of party chairmanship at the detriment of the 2023 Benue state governorship aspiration of the zone. When from the Centre, it has been the practice that any zone that wishes to produce the next President of the country stays away from the party chairmanship position to make a stronger case for the zone, a position that is currently at play in the national APC where Southern APC members have shown disinterest in the position of the National Chairmanship of the party so it could make a persuasive case for the Presidential aspiration of the zone come 2023.
The aspirant for the 2023 Benue South Senatorial district position will also need to do a painstaking job in convincing the Benue South people that he has their good intentions at heart after dismissing the collective yearning and aspiration of the good people of Zone C (2023 Benue South Governor) in paragraph Seven of the ignominious statement as a FANTASY.
Finally, i invite the Idoma nation to pay close attention to the unfolding political developments in the state so as to fish out the saboteurs who are bent on truncating the 2023 Benue state governorship dream of Benue South.
God bless the Idoma nation!
God bless Benue state!
This is the personal opinion of Comrade Sylvanus Okpe, a committed 2023 Benue South Governorship agitator and a member of the All Progressive Congress (APC).
