Former governorship aspirant Prince Mustapha Mona Audu, son of former Kogi State Governor Prince Audu Abubakar, is edging closer to victory in his bid to represent the Ideh Federal Constituency, as other aspirants make way for him.

Hon. Barr. Haruna O. Yusuf, an Ex-Special Adviser to the Governor on Legislative/Assembly Matters, is the most recent person to resign for Mona.

The political chaiftain in the constituency stated that he is not only withdrawing but also throwing his weight behind the prince to ensure his victory.

He stated that Mona’s characteristics set him apart from the others and that no one in the race needed to compete against him.

His letter below:

“Idah Federal Constituency, House of Representatives, Contest: – I withdraw for Prince Mustapha Mona Audu.
On this Special Day, that we are set to pick our Intent/ nominations form; I make this speech to commend everyone that has been involved in the Project.

It has not been easy, ensuring that Idah Federal Constituency gets a Voice at the National Assembly.

To all my supporters from the Wards Excos to the entire four Local Governments Excos and our party members, that makes up our Federal Constituency, I say, thank you. Am very Proud of you.

Our collective bargain was to contest and win the elections.

I know that some of you have been standing with me over years, waiting for this Golden opportunity to Serve again. I am a Party man and I respect my Leaders, and I urge everyone to so do.

We have mobilized for the elections, but it is a fact that God has a better plan for us.

I must not fail to state that, Democracy is sweeter when the will of the people prevail.

It is self destructive when candidates are forced on the electorate, this can have a dangerous backlash; that may lead to protest votes against the Party or outright withdrawal from party activities. We should avoid it.

The current Electoral law, has improved tremendously, giving the electorate the power to determine who wins at General elections.

Today, I make an appeal to everyone to stay calm and stay in the Party no matter what happens.

I am withdrawing from the race as a mark of respect, to support Prince Mustapha Mona Audu, who is the son of our late Leader, HE, Prince Abubakar Audu of blessed memory.

I have also interacted with Prince Mona and watched his achievements in private life and I am convinced that if we support him to win, the Primary and the General election; he will not let us down.

Mona, has all it takes to keep our flag flying higher in the Green Chambers, he is not docile, he is smart and calculative; we shall stand by him all the way; my Legislative experience will be an added advantage to him. He will shine!

Permit me to handover all our structures and visions to him. He cannot fail.

I confidently raise his hand out to you, as our candidate for House of Representatives.

I thank you all for standing by me in the course of this journey.

Let’s do this in honour of his father.

The real work starts now!

God bless you all.

Hon. Barr. Haruna O.Yusuf
(Ex, Special Adviser, to the Governor, on Legislative/Assembly Matters).”
