The People’s Democratic Party National Youth Movement (PDP-NYM) has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to endorsing the candidate of it’s party, PDP, Senator Dino Melaye in the forthcoming gubernatorial election in Kogi State. In response to recent rumors surrounding the election, the organization has clarified its position and expressed its disapproval of any actions deviating from party principles.
Engr. Yakubu Nurudeen Yahaya, the North Central Coordinator of the PDP-NYM, has conveyed his deep disappointment regarding members’ involvement in activities contrary to the party’s core values. He emphasized that despite facing challenges and not receiving the recognition they believe they deserve, the PDP-NYM remains steadfast in pursuing the objectives of the People’s Democratic Party.
Engr. Yakubu made this known in a statement made available to the media in Lokoja on Tuesday. The statement reads in full:
“The People’s Democratic Party National Youth Movement (PDP-NYM) wish to clarify and dismiss any rumors regarding our endorsement of a candidate from another party, specifically concerning the recent happenings in Kogi State ahead of the slated November 11 governirship election.
“The North Central Coordinator of our organization, Engr. Yakubu Nurudeen Yahaya, expresses his disappointment with members engaging in activities contrary to our party’s principles. He emphasizes that our organization, despite not receiving due recognition, remains devoted to our Party’s objectives, particularly with regard to the upcoming Governorship Election in Kogi State.
“It is no secret that no organization or party is without flaws. We have consistently voiced our concerns about how our contributions, including the establishment of youth structures in all 36 States and the FCT-Abuja, have been disregarded.
“Despite these challenges, we must refrain from engaging in anti-party activities, especially in Kogi State, where our fellow citizens have chosen to overwhelmingly support our Party and our Candidate, Senator Dino Melaye. Senator Melaye is entrusted with the mandate to rescue the people from the mismanagement reminiscent of Pharaoh’s reign.
“We respect the right to association on a personal basis, but acting against the interests of our organization and party is unacceptable. We urge anyone involved in such actions to cease immediately to avoid legal consequences.
“Our organization is resolute in supporting, advocating for, and voting massively for our Party’s Candidate, Senator Dino Melaye, who possesses the most extensive experience among all candidates.
“The situation in Kogi State necessitates urgent repositioning to address infrastructure deficits, unpaid salaries, and arrears, particularly among local government workers and pensioners, which have worsened under the current administration.
“We call upon all our members across the State to remain steadfast, dedicated, and patient as we work together to make history.
“Furthermore, we extend a vote of confidence to the Party’s leadership in the State for their commendable efforts in revitalizing the Party.”
