The air is heavy with grief as condolences and tributes continue to pour in following the passing of Ma Asmau Onoja, the centenarian matriarch of the renowned Onoja family of Emodu Ogugu, Olamaboro Local Government, Kogi State.

The news of Ma Asmau’s departure has prompted an outpouring of heartfelt messages and expressions of sympathy from well-wishers. The somber announcement was made by one of her sons, the prominent Emodu community figure, Ambassador Jonas Onoja.

Ambassador Jonas revealed that his beloved mother peacefully transitioned after a brief illness, and further details regarding her funeral arrangements will soon be made available.

Late Ma Asmau, who had gracefully crossed the century mark, bore witness to the birth of her great-great-grandchild before her eventual departure. Her longevity is a testament to the remarkable journey of her life.

As the grieving family navigates this difficult period, countless sympathizers have shared stories of Late Asmau’s profound humanitarian and religious impact during her time on Earth. Late Asmau leaves behind a legacy that includes four children, among them Inspector Friday Onoja, as well as grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and even great-great-grandchildren.

Her passing, which occurred at approximately 7 PM on a Wednesday, has cast a shroud of mourning over the entire Emodu Community and its surroundings. She hailed from the Emoshowa clan of Emodu, and her memory will undoubtedly live on in the hearts of those who were touched by her remarkable life.
