This endorsement marks a significant turning point in the local political landscape, and it stems from the admiration and respect earned by Professor Salifu Usman Ogbo, the Rector of Kogi State Polytechnic, who is now recognized as the torchbearer of the APC in the eyes of this enthusiastic community. The bond between Professor Ogbo and the Angwa Ogebe community is deeply rooted in his remarkable achievements as the head of the state's Polytechnic and his profound impact on the community since taking up the role of rector. On a sunny Saturday morning, the Angwa Ogebe community decided to extend their heartfelt support for Ododo's candidacy by inviting Professor Ogbo, a revered academic don, to their midst. The day began with a warm welcome at the residence of Hon. Abdul Umar, the chairman of the Ankpa Elders Advisory Council. Here, prayers were offered, and the elder, a former political leader, took a moment to commend Governor Yahaya Bello while wholeheartedly declaring his unwavering support for Ododo. He also elucidated the significance of Professor Ogbo to Angwa Ogebe, emphasizing how his contributions have left an indelible mark on the community. Following this auspicious start, Professor Ogbo made a brief stop at the palace of the Onu Ankpa, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Abdulmalik Umar. Here, amidst the serene ambiance of the royal court, blessings were conferred upon him. The royal father, in recounting the academic don's contributions, highlighted their profound impact on Ankpa and, in particular, Angwa Ogebe. His words resonated deeply with the crowd, reaffirming their commitment to supporting Ododo in the upcoming election. The day's festivities reached their pinnacle as an unprecedented crowd and different support groups gathered at the family residence of Professor Ogbo. Esteemed dignitaries took to the podium to bear witness to and celebrate his contributions to the community's development. One such dignitary, the Managing Director of the Kogi State Rural Water Agency, Hon. Isah Abdullahi, shared how, thanks to Professor Ogbo's influence, the agency had meticulously planned and surveyed 25 locations across various communities for the installation of modern boreholes by the year's end. Numerous other prominent figures addressed the audience, including the community's youth leader, Comrade Abdulwahab Nary; Ankpa's local government party Chairman, Muhammed Jubril; the former deputy speaker of the state assembly, Alfa Momoh Rabiu; Provost of the College of Education in Ankpa, Professor Mohammed Kebiru Ibrahim; and Idah local government Chairman, Abu Odoma, among others. Their testimonials underscored the profound impact of Professor Ogbo's leadership on the community. Some of the support groups include Angwa Agenda Network, Menati Meeting, among others. In an interaction with the press after the event, Professor Ogbo conveyed his confidence in his community's unwavering support, highlighting that any other candidate who had visited the area was greeted by what he aptly termed a "fake" crowd. He clarified that the purpose of the event was to honor the invitation extended by his people, giving him the opportunity to witness the offices and activities organized in preparation for the upcoming election. The esteemed professor of political science left no room for doubt, confidently asserting that the APC would triumph in his community in the governorship election. On the issue of agitation for the returning of power to Kogi East, the rector noted that he would not want to dabble into the issue so as not to be misconstrued. He however disclosed that there no written agreement on power rotation and that those clamoring for Igala agenda are hiding under selfish interest. The event encompassed various activities, including Professor Ogbo's generous gesture of gifting a brand-new motorcycle to one of his dedicated supporters, the distribution of bags of rice to the community, and the official commissioning of several campaign offices established to support Ododo's bid. In a heartfelt promise, the Rector, who has already provided numerous job opportunities to the community, pledged to cover West African Examination Council (WAEC) fees, support widows, and create hundreds more jobs for the people should Ododo emerge as the governor.
