
As the 2023 governorship election approaches in Kogi State, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Kogi East zone has received a major boost with the official defection of Senator Attai Alih Aidoko and hundreds of his supporters from the opposition party. The decamping ceremony, which took place in Okpo, Olamaboro Local Government area, was attended by the State party chairman and executives, former and present state Assembly members, Local Government Council Chairmen, party leaders at all levels, and the Executive Governor of Kogi State represented by the Deputy, Chief Edward David Onoja, who welcomed the new members with open arms.

Speaking during the ceremony, the Kogi East Zonal Chairman of the APC, Hon. Muhammad Nasiru Alfa expressed his delight at the decision of the new members to join the ruling party, noting that it is a smart move given the wide chances of the party in winning the forthcoming governorship poll. He promised the new members equal privileges and rights with the existing members while assuring them of victory at the poll.
The significance of this defection cannot be overemphasized, as it is a clear indication of the growing popularity and acceptance of the APC in the Kogi East zone. With this development, the party is better poised to win the governorship election in 2023 and continually provide the people of Kogi State with good governance and development.
As the election draws nearer, it is expected that more influential personalities and party loyalists will join the APC, further strengthening the party’s chances of winning. The APC, under the able leadership of Governor Yahaya Bello, has demonstrated its commitment to the development of Kogi State, and with the support of the people, the incoming administration will continue to deliver on its promises.
