Hon. Umar Faruk Ahmad, formerly a prominent youth leader within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lokoja Local Government Area, has tendered his resignation from the party. Notably, his departure coincides with an appearance alongside Muritala Ajaka, the Social Democratic Party (SDP) candidate for the imminent Kogi gubernatorial election.
Faruk Ahmad’s resignation letter, addressed to the APC Chairman in Lokoja LGA, outlined grievances including the party’s post-general election dynamics and the absence of a governorship primary. He lamented the sidelining of committed members, the neglect of promises made, and the party’s weakening electoral strength.

Critically, he denounced the choice of Alh. Usman Ododo as the APC’s gubernatorial candidate, considering it an “erroneous choice” imposed upon the party. Faruk Ahmad forecasted potential mass defections due to this decision.
