The Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, is in a state of mourning following the unexpected passing of Mr. Peter Akogu, the esteemed Head of the Department of Industrial Design within the School of Art, Design, and Printing.
Mr. Akogu’s untimely demise occurred on Sunday, August 12th, 2023, at the age of 47.
Mr. Akogu began his tenure at Kogi State Polytechnic as a Higher Instructor on April 4th, 2003. Through dedication and hard work, he climbed the ranks, eventually achieving the position of Senior Lecturer in the Department of Industrial Design. His exemplary service led to his appointment as the Head of Department on November 3rd, 2022.

Originally from Unyi Ogogu Village in Olamaboro Local Government of Kogi State, Mr. Akogu was a respected figure within the institution. The Registrar of the Polytechnic, Elder Sunday Aiyeetan, characterized him as a distinguished personality, a disciplined academic, and an effective team leader.
Mr. Akogu’s commitment to the growth and advancement of the School of Art, Design, and Printing, particularly within the Department of Industrial Design, has resulted in the establishment of a model for nurturing young leaders over the years.
As the Polytechnic community mourns his loss, they beseech God for forgiveness for any shortcomings and pray for his soul to rest eternally. They also extend their prayers to his family, friends, well-wishers, associates, and the entire Polytechnic Community, hoping for the strength to endure this irreplaceable loss.
