2023: What Prince Adewole Adebayo told Emir of Zazzau he would do if elected president

It’s no longer news that the candidature of Prince Adewole Adebayo has continued to gather momentum from across the nooks and crannies of Nigeria as the lawyer continues in his consultation tour ahead of the 2023 presidential election.

However, it was a noteworthy discussion, the Social Democratic Party candidate had with the Zazzau kingdom in Zaria Kaduna earlier this week.

Adebayo who in his entourage to the palace had several eminent personalities including Solomon Selcap Dalung who was the Minister of Youth and Sports between 2015 and 2019 and Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah who is currently the Senator, representing Anambra South Senatorial District in the Nigerian senate, wooed the Emir of Zazzau also known as Sarkin Zazzau, Alhaji Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli in a confab with the palace that lasted for about an hour plus.

Here is what the legal luminary who hailed from Ondo state told the Zazzau Kingdom about his aspiration to become the next president of Nigeria and what he would to if elected;

Your Majesty, Sarkin Zazzau, our father, it’s a great pleasure, and honour and privilege to be here. I bring greetings to you from the people of Nigeria and from the Kingdom of Ondo. This palace is the most romantic palace for me because growing up is the first palace that I heard of because of Queen Amina of Zaria. So when we grow up as a child learning in the nursery, they will tell us about the history of the Zazzau Kingdom. So it’s a magic plan for me today to be here. And I’m grateful to Almighty Allah for the opportunity. And also Zaya is the center of life because many people from my family came to the Ahmodu Bello University, Zaria.

And we used to come here in those days for visitation when I was very young. And in my family, many marriages, many staff began here. Many of my family members who studied overseas came back and many were posted to Zaria. We saw Zaria is very important to us in our family, to the Ondo Kingdom and to many people in the country. And the journey we are beginning is a journey that we know has to be a journey that carries the wisdom of the elders.

I’m seeking an office which is for four years. And if one is lucky and wanting another four years. But the institution I am consulting has been here for over a thousand years, and this Kingdom has endured based on the wisdom of our forefather, including our foremother Queen Amina, and the wisdom with which this kingdom is being ruled has also helped in developing the country. And I thought that I should come here to seek your permission to seek this office as a father. The same way I will consult my father because you are also my father.

And if I have your consent to continue, I also need your wisdom as I go along. And if it pleases Almighty Allah that the people of Nigeria elect us, then we will need you more.

The challenges facing the country are well known to the palace because when the government fails, the palace can never fail the people. The people will come here and say, our father. This is what has happened to us in this dispensation.

So I’m not spending time of Your Majesty talking about the problems, but I have the few solutions which I will consider that with your prayers, they should work with sincerity of heart. We will apply this solutions and they should work. And I said to my team members and many people working together that Nigeria has everything. It pleases God Almighty to make Nigeria a taste of Paradise. And it gives us everything that we need. But we must ourselves apply what God has given us, which we have not used. We have used the oil, we have used the land, we have used the water.

But God also gave truth, he also gave us justice but we have refused to use those ones. So when I come to be of service to my country, men and women, I will come and use truth. And truth is very important, especially when the truth does not serve your own interest, when the truth serves the interest of the government. And I will do justice because when we do justice, Everything will fall in place.

There was a time in this country where the only University in the northern was the Amodu Bello University Zaria.

The education Was good, there was no strike and from far from corners and all over the world who come and seek knowledge in Zaria. That one University produced a great civilization. How come now we have University in every corner?

What we had at that time is that our best leaders worked with truth even though they were young. They were about the same age as I am today. But they already knew how to apply truth and justice and they did justice to the end. So all we have to do if it pleases Almight Allah that we should be the one to lead to people is to apply truth and justice. Because a just person will not misuse public resources.

A just person will not mislead the people. A just person will do to others only that which he want others to unto him. So you will be humble. He will understand that this is just a tenancy given from above and that everyone will give account not only here but in the heaven. So this is what we need to bring.

And if we apply this, we do not need to go to anybody to borrow money to build justice. If the leader does justice, those who follow him will learn to do justice. And every Nigeria will learn to do justice in their little corners. And it doesn’t matter how they do, doesn’t mean that the country will not have challanges. But when the times are lame, the leader will show himself to live in a lineless way.

When the times are tough, the leader has to take the brunt of the toughness. And when it pleases Allah to give us good times, the people who take first and leaders will take last. These are the lessons of our forefathers. These are the lessons of Sir Amodu Bello. These are the lessons of Tafawa Balewa, and all leaders of the north. The same thing with Doctor Nnamdi Azikiwe, the same thing with Chief Awolowo, Sir Michael Opararah and so many other great leaders we had in the past.

These are the times we need to travel back to and this is the moment to do so. Your Majesty, I thank you for the reception and I prayed that Almighty Allah to elongate and elongate and make sure that this kingdom endures in peace and harmony.

Thank you very much.
